A few additional questions for this week's study guide

Greetings Family,

These questions also may be helpful for tomorrow's quiz.

  • —Why is the Atlantic Coastal Plain usually warmer than the other regions in Maryland?
    • —It is warmer because it is usually close to the ocean.
  • What is the cause of heavy flooding along Maryland’s coast?
    • Heavy rains and Hurricanes
  • How much does Maryland’s average temperature differ from it highest recorded temperature?
    • 55 degrees
  • Compare the photographs on page 9. How does the shape of the land and the type of trees help you know that one picture shows the Atlantic Costal Plain and the other shows the mountains?
    • The coastal plain picture shows flat land, leafy trees, and water. The mountain picture shows higher and steeper land and fir or pine trees.
  • Also remember:
    • Primary research is based on firsthand experience, experiments and observations.
    • Secondary research involves reading gathering information about other people’s experiences, experiments, and observations.
Good luck!
-Ms. Shepard
